Two years
September 1st, 2010
I lay sobbing in a Central American apartment, crying out in anger, grieving the loss of our fourth child. I couldn't understand why a good and perfect God would place a new life into our already full hearts - into our already full family - and then seemingly rip it away again, only to leave a gaping hole in its place.
Not two months before, we'd decided that our family size would remain what it was. Finally, after years of discussion, we felt at peace with it. We'd reluctantly pushed our adoption desires aside, despite the mix of love and anguish we felt during our visits to the orphanage.
We'd thought it was time to move on. Without the life that we didn't know we needed...the life that left an empty spot in our family...the life that put us on a new path.
And without yet another little life. A little girl who changed everything.

Today, exactly two years later and after one incredible journey, our beautiful daughter will meet her brothers, her city, her home for the first time.
One family without a child; one child without a family. From ashes to beauty, on both sides of the globe.

wow stacy. what a testimony to the awesome planning. my friend had the exact same thing happen to her. she lost her child she tried for for 4 years and her adopted son was given to them on the day of her unborn child's due date. unreal how it all works out. hind sight can give you a quick kick to the gut and a nice smile on your face. He is awesome. welcome home!
ReplyDeleteStacy,
ReplyDeleteWhat a journey you have been on! I am so thankful that you are all home safely.. Praying that the jetlag fog does not last too long!!! These first few days home are so hard.. But, soon you will be in to your new routine with your precious newest baby girl by your side!! It sounds like you have awesome friends at home to help you!! Thank you for sharing your heart in such a beautiful way during your trip.. The timing of your return was perfect.. God knows the details.. And, I pray that was just a glimpse of how much He will bless you in the days and months to come!
