Friday (day six)
The good:
She tentatively touched both dogs. And then realized that dogs like food. And that she likes to give them food. I predict a beautiful toddler-canine relationship in the near future.
She napped. Aaaaaahhhhhhh (that is the sound of angels singing)!
She giggled. Of course.
She learned to say "bow". And delighted in her shoes. More evidence of a girly girl. One who also likes toy cars and swords.
She danced with her brothers. Cue more angels.
The bad:
She had a bad tantrum. A 45 minute one.
She likes to press the microwave buttons. Sadly, it is a built-in at perfect toddler height. I can only imagine what random objects we're gonna find cooked in there in the coming months.
The ugly:
Adoptions are always formed out of loss. As much as we prefer to focus solely on the unicorns and rainbows, that very wonder of forming a new family stems out of hurt, pain, and sorrow. There is so much that we - and more importantly SHE - will never know about her past. Some days that feels heavier than others. Today it felt heavy.
The prayer:
That our family can embrace this incredible little girl, help her grow, give her love. And let her know that while we cannot heal the past and cannot prevent the tears of sorrow and loss, we will be there to hold her and to wipe them when they fall.
